Israel Land Dispute -Hour 1
Both Israelis (Jews) and Palestinians (Arab Muslims) believe that the land of Israel (formerly Palestine) is rightfully theirs. State your opinion and then respond/debate to others. You may support someone on your side, but also make counterpoints to what the other side says. USE EVIDENCE. You can even link your evidence if you know where you got it.
Israel got the land from the U.N. , so they have the right to take over the land. It wasn't that they just came by and forced the Palestine out. The U.N. let them do that.
I agree with Melissa the Israleis were given permission to own, and live on the land by the U.N (the world). They didn't just come by choice, and kick the Palestines out off the land.
But many Israelis were forced out of Palestine. Also, the British used to own the land, who are a part of the UN, they then gave the land to the UN to decide who gets it, and they chose the Israelis.
Where do the Palestinians go? The Jews got forced out and they got that land. So if the Palestinians are getting forced out don't the palestinians deserve land?
Yeah. Where do they go? There are way too many refugee camps out there than what there should really be. In 1949, 711,000 Palestinians were refugees. The Palestinians should at least have some of the land.
Just because they got the land from the U.N. doesnt mean they're taking complete control over Palestinians. The purpose for them getting that land was just because they didnt fit anywhere else. They just cant go into a state and force people who were perfectly fine right were they were out of their homes and throw them out. Thats just not right.
The Jews got the land from the U.N. Meaning it was theres, and the Palestine weren't leaving, what are they supposed to do. It was the Israleis land, and they won it over in war. The Palestine don't own it they don't have a right to be there anymore. It's not theres.
The Israeli's did go back there, but they could have lived in peace with the Palestinians. But instead, they just started beating them, killing men, women, and even children, and forcing everyone out of the country. The U.N. didn't want them to do that!
The Palestine didn't want to work it our with the Iraelis, to share the land. They only kept saying it isn't fair, but at the same time they didn't want to talk it out.
It is not all just the Palestinians. The Jews did alot too. You can't just say that Palestinians broke the peace treaties so it is all of our faults. The Jews are trying to force out the Palestinians just like the Jews are doing to the Palestinians. Where do we go?
The israelies should get the land because they won a war against palestine. Palestine had there chance at getting the land fairly but they lost the war so israel deserves it.
I agree with this becasue the Isralies went into war with the Palestine, and they had their chance to own the land. But they lost the war so the Isralies won the land. On top of that the land was already theres when they were given the land by the U.N.
Thats a sign of evidence that israelis brought violence to the palestinians. The palestinians never wanted to be violent and randomly the israelis just started a war and ha terroism start because of that.
But the Palestinians also wanted to fight too. Because both sides wanted the land, it was a fair way of who gets the land and who doesn't . Both sides wanted to fight not just the Israelis.
The Palestine were the ones who got them into the war if they would have left when the land was no longer theres it never would have happened. They were the ones that were fighting, and lost in that war anyways.
I think that the israelis should get the land, because the United Nations gave them the land. Also, the land is holy for the Jewish people. The palestinians may claim that the land is holy for them too, but it is never mentioned in the koran. Even after there was a war, the Palestineans lost. So there are tons of reasons why the Israelis should get the land.
I agree with you Lauren, because there's lots of reasons why the Israelis should get the land. Mean while, Palestine they just have a couple and they like to repeat the part where they were their first.
Since their are tons of reasons for the israelis to get the land, you should have evidence of what they are and again, just because the U.N. gave them the land, it doesnt mean that they can bring violence and force people out of their homes. They left, thats not the palestinians fault, its the israelis. They made the decision to move.
Just because the "Jews" beleive that god gave them the land you have no proof. That is part of your religion not the Palestinians religion. That is not a strong claim.
Why would they mention the Palestinians in the quran if they dont like them? Thats why. And since "God gave them the land" why didnt they stay? If its so important to them then why did they just realize that now and not before they left by choice?
I agree with Ashley becasue the Israleis were given the land by God, and on this website it shows the bible verse that it was said in. They were given the land, and it is a major part of their religion.
This isnt a valid argument, religion is based on opinion and faith, if you said that "God told me to have this Lamborghini and I have permission to take it from its owner" it would be anarchy, if that actually worked in the real world everyone would be taking things. I mean, i support the Israelis but this argument doesnt really work.
The Jews deserve the land because even after they had got it GIVEN to them, they won a war against the Palistinians over the land. This means the Jews successfully defended the land and won it fair and square.
It was not fair and square because the U.S funded the Israelis $8.5 million dollars and gave the Palestines nothing so the palestines did not have a fair fight.
The Palistines made the first attempt at an attack on the Israelites so if they knew they didn't have the allies to win they shouldn't have started it.
Maybe, but you have to remember that the British used to own the land and they gave it to the UN so they have permission, they did not give the land to anyone else until after WW2 so the Palestines lived there but did not own it.
They need it more. The palistinians have somewhere to go they can go to other muslim arab countrys. The jews dont have a place to go. there unexsepted anywhere else.
I agree with you because the Palestinians can go to a lot more places then the Jew's can. The only reason the Jew's are on that land because they have no where to go really after the Holocaust.
I think the Israeli's deserve the land because in the bible, it says God promised the Jews the land as a homeland. Most of the Jews beleive this so most of the Jewish population is in Israel. The Palestinians have no promise to any land, so they mostly live in the West Bank, the Gaza strip, and Jordan.
If god promised them the land then why did they leave? Even if they were there first, and God supposedly gave them the land, why didnt they stay, or is that just an excuse that now they realize they would say? Why didnt they realize it before they all fled Israel?
Israel is a strategic ally to America because they are a roadblock to terrorism. Palenstine never made movements to resist against terrorists and assist other places.

Exactly, their are basically all religious reasons, how do you know they are true? Palestinians actually have reasonable and trusworthy reasons and they are better than israelis.
Jews should get the land instead of Palestinians. Israel is the Israelites homeland. Not the Arabs. Saudi Arabia is their homeland. Also, after WWII the United Nations agreed to give the Jews their homeland back after they had been kicked out of it. The land was suppossed to compensate for the terrible things that happened to them during the Holocaust.
The Israelis Deserve the land because they have been there since Arbaham and when they left they had no choice they were sent to the consentration camps and tortured during the time of hitler and no one tried to help them plus the world gave them the land.
The British owned what is now Israel before the Jews were granted this land. After WW1 the British gave all rights for the land to the U.N. which then choose to give it to the Jews. So it is legally the Jews land.
Israel fought in four wars against Palestine, they won every single one of them. Sure, they were funded by the UN but that just means that there are plenty more people supporting Israel's sides than the Palestine's side. In one of those wars the Israelis were outnumbered 2-1 yet they still won. There were 39 missles that touched Israel soil.
YES EXCALTLY!!!! The Palestines even STARTED the war which the Jews agreed to do! So it wasn't like the Jews went and just SHOT people randomly!! They fought war JUST like the Palestines wanted them to do. The Jews won so it means they get the land. :D
I think the Israelis should get the land. They should get the land because it said in the bible that the lord is giving the land to Abraham. (Genesis 13:14-17) Also they won more wars then the Palestinians did.
God gave israelis the land. Israelis should get the land because god said that israelis should get the land and god said that palestinian should not get the land. History show that israelis was there first.
Even if they were there for that long, why would they leave? Them leaving just gives the palestinians another way to keep the land because they never even left, even if they did develop the land there, why didnt they stay?
They Israelis deserve the land because they never had a place they could rightfully stay and call their home. The Jews have been kicked out of 109 countrys since the year 250. So they should have a promise land to call their own.
They couldn't have immigrated somewhere else because they were kicked out of many of the country's of the world. Israel is the only place they can call home. Everyone else has discriminated against them.
It is true throughout history Jews have been kick out of lands, but so have other ethnic and religious groups. However, there are many places where, today, religious freedom exists. So, look at my link below and you will see that Jews would be accepted in any of the 42 countries listed. They don't need their own homeland. Christians, Muslim, Buddhist, etc... don't have their own country.
Well if the land is sooooooooooo important to the palestines why do they only have a little bit over 1 million for population when the jews have a little bit over 6 million for there population
Because the israelis fled back and population is not related to anything about how important the land is to either side. The population has nothing to do with this subject.
Israelis have many important holidays and religious sites in Israel. What holidays or sites do the Palestineans have in Israel? None, therefore the Israelis should have the land.
The israelis DONT have that many religious sites there. The main one is Jerusalem, which is important to both sides. They both think that that is a sacred place.
If the Palestineans want the land so bad why are they loosing the wars. The Palestineans have no major holidays in Israel unlike the jews that have many holidays.
This is a false statement that has nothing to do with this subject hense the fact that religion means almost nothing to this dispute so hollidays is not a good enough reason to give them the land freely
The Israeli's obviously have a better army because they keep fighting for the land and keep winning. I found death rates in Palestinians are MUCH higher than Israeli's. I think to keep a country stong you need people to live longer.
Israel should keep this land because they have the stable economy to run it properly. Palistine does not and could not keep up with this country. Israel ranks 51 for an overall rating and compared to the USA's rank of 10, thats pretty good. So if Israel has an up and running stable economy, why ruin it now?
Just because it isn't metioned in the holy book doesn't mean there not religious, and if god promised them the land, then why did they leave? Why didn't they stay?
The jews were forced out of israel. I understand that but when they came back they were vicious. During this feud 129 Israeli children were killed and 1,516 palestinian children died since september 29, 200. Thousands of children are dieing from this! The palestinians were there as long as the Jews. Why do the Jews deserve a homeland and the Palestinians don't? They deserve land because they were there as long as the Jews and longer and that is there homeland too.
Sure, there may have been a lot of children killed, but you need context under it! How do we know the Palenstinians didint use them to do their dirty work, or how do we know they were not caught in crossfire because of the terrain of palestine.

I agree with this, the Palestinians claim this is also their homeland. But it is not, the Arabs have other countries in the middle east where they would be accepted. This is all the Israelis have.
Not only did many kids die but there were so many palestine people were injured (49,518) and the israelis ended up only having 9,081 injured people so it is not a fluke that so many children died. The Israelis came and killed many of them for the land that was already occupied by the Palestines.
The Palestinias have been very violent and its a concern to the Isralies and the United States. The Palestinians miliant killed at least 53 Americans and injured at least 83 Americans. Also Palestinians sucide bombers have also targeted civilian buses, resturants, shopping malls, hotels, and marketplaces in Israel.
Yes I do agree a ton of kids were lost, But, the Palestines WERE the ones who started the war. They said that they would have to do war to win the land. WHICH the Jews did. And they won. So it was the Palenstines fault that they said lets do war. The Jews did it and won. It was war so yes it is sad and bad that they killed that many kids but its not there fault!
I know but The isrealis tried to make peace with the palestines but they keep lying and starting wars the land at one point was pretty equally but the israelis had more, but after every war they would just lose land so now the land is not equally at all but it is not the israelis fault
I agree. Most of the children were killed while doing daily activities, like playing outside or going to school. They didn't do anything! If this keeps up, there will be no Palestinians left. Nobody wants that.
First of all, the Israeli people commited ethnic cleansing. Ethnic cleansing is the act of forcefully removing an ethnic group or religious group by the UN standards. Then, the UN demands that the Israeli government lets the Palestinians who were deportated come back to Israel, and strongly deplores their decisions by Resolution #799.

This is not true, they only killed the people who fought back, you have to understand that the British used to own the land and gave it to the UN. Its not ethnic cleansing if you leave people behind, they didint try to kill EVERY Palestinian.
But the U.N was only able to do that 'cause the palestinians were not a part of the U.N. and that is the main reason why they were kicked out of their country.
Where's your proof? Because in class we learned that they both were there and remember the Jew's didn't want to go they got force to go. The Jew's didn't have a choice.

The Israelis did come back but the U.N. said they could do that. They didn't just come out of no where with no support and come kill thousands of people.

The Palestines were already there while the Israelis were not so even if they were given permissoion it was not by the actual land owners, the Palestines. It should not have been given to the Israelis because someone already had it.

You say that "so many have died," for the palestineans, but the Jewish people have been through rough times too. 6,638 palestineans were killed, which is a big number, but 5,933,900 jews were killed in the holocaust. All the palestineans had to do was give them a home after the big mess, but they chose to cause trouble and get theirselves killed by fighting.
The Israeli's are the ones who caused the trouble. They started it by beating and killing people and forcing them out. They at least should share the land, but that isn't what's going to happen because of what the Israeli's did.

Just because the U.N. told them that they could have that land, it isnt right for them to come back violently. They came and forced palesinians out of their homes. They came back with war and terrorism. Clearly Palestinians have not done anything wrong and DO DESERVE THE LAND! It was rightfully theirs in the first place. The Israelis left, and then tried to come back, why did they leave in the first place then? Thei are better reasons for the palestinians to keep the land because all of the isrealis reasons are based on religion and thats not all that matters.
They didn't come back that voilently they just took control becase they tried to come to peace with the palestines but every time they would just break the deals that they were making
Yeah, Israel didn't want to be voilent but the Palestine wouldn't leave nicely. They kept saying their first its theirs. But the land was never any of theirs, until the U.N. gave it to the Israel.

i think the palestinians should get there land back cause they were there first,but they also had a chance to get it back but they lost , which suck for them bceause they lost the war.but jewish people could of bought the land instead od killing the palestinians.jewsih people could made a deal with palestinians instead if doing what they did.they could made a deal; with out having volence.
The Israelis never had a real spot of land thats theirs. They were moved around by the Holocaust and some Palestineans. The Palestinains also took the land from the Israelis.
They are not just now taking Israel this has been their homeland for many years now. But now that they finally have the opportunity to live in their own country where people will not harrass them about their religion, the Palestinians are fighting them for it.
The land was not unfairly taken from them. The Palistineans had a chance to get their land back, but they lost the war. So the Israelies, with the United Nations on their side, fairly got the land.

I agree with that because the Israelis were not there so just because they had the land before, they still left so it truly should belong to the Palestines because they had most of the land until Israelis took over the land.
If the Israelis left the land they should not get a "get out of jail free card" they should not get the land because they left and just because the un says they can barge in on peace doesnt mean the palestinians agreed with this
Where is the proof that the Jews were there with an actual government? Their holy book is the only evidence, and it's not really evidence. It's just faith saying that the Jews were there, but nothing says the Jews had a government back then.
The Palistines were not there first. The Jews were and it states that in the bible. The Palistinians weren't even on their own land. It wasn't a country like Israel was it was just plain old land which was then given to the Jews and turned into Israel. So it was never rightfully the Palistines.
Thats the problem the jews base everything on their bible and on religious reasons. How do you know that they are even true? I'm not trying to be disrespectful or anything but not everything about their religion is worthy of being a good reason.
Not everything is based on religion. One, the United Nations, a.k.a. the WORLD, gave them the land. Also, the jewish people actually won a war against the palistineans.
