I totally agree with you. If it is legally theirs, They won the wars and also they were there and given to it by god. They deserve to be the rightful owners of the land.

That's true when someone wins a war they usually win what they were fighting, for In this case the land. They gave some of the lands back to them. But they were also pushed out of the land in the first place. SO when the jews came back winning wars they should be given their reward which in this case is the land.
