Well, if the israelis have been there untill the palestinians took over, they it clearly was their land. They did claim that god told abraham they owned the land, it makes sense for them to want to go back now.

The israelis were there first and if abrham was told by god to go to israel then they should own the land even if the palestinians were there first.
